Apogee Instruments MQ-500
The meter has manual and log modes and records the integrated daily total in mol × m^(-2) × d^(- 1). Sample mode stores up to 99 measurements. Log mode turns the device on and off every 30 minutes to record. Every 30 minutes, the device averages 60 thirty-second measured values and stores this value in memory. Up to 99 such values can be stored, and as soon as the memory capacity is full, the oldest records are automatically overwritten with new ones.
Precise measurement and the possibility of analysis
The integrated daily total is obtained from 48 averaged measurements ( which amounts to a 24 h period). Manual and protocol measurements can be displayed on the LCD screen or downloaded to a computer. To do this, you need to purchase an AC-100 communication cable (a standard USB cable will not work) and ApogeeAMS software.
The MQ-500 from the American manufacturing company Apogee Instruments is a perfect handheld light meter with a connected cable that displays and saves measurement results. Main applications include measuring direct and reflected PPFD above plant tops or inside foliage at different heights, in outdoor greenhouses or indoor grow rooms. Quantum sensors can also be used to measure PAR/PPFD in an aquarium environment, including saltwater aquariums where corals are growing.
Usages
Incoming PPFD measurement (photosynthetic photon flux density = amount of PAR received by the plant from lighting). Compared to classic LUX meters, it can be used to measure LED lighting, where PAR and PPFD quantities play a crucial role!
